Interviews: Giving availability and confirming your time slot

This article will cover the four steps of taking part in an interview playtest:

  1. Providing availability;
  2. Getting short-listed;
  3. Completing the tech check; and
  4. Confirming your availability prior to the session.

  1. Providing availability

When selecting time slots for a potential interview session, please ensure that you only select time slots that you will definitely be available for.

Check to see who is being invited to the interview. If you have a child listed on your profile, the session could be about a child's game, in which case you'll both need to attend!

The time slots shown in the screener survey were provided by the interviewer themselves and are therefore final.

Follow the link in the screener to be taken to a survey where you'll provide any required gaming experience and your availability. Please note that providing availability is not enough to secure a time slot.

  1. Getting short-listed for the interview 🎉

If you're short-listed for the interview playtest, we'll send another email stating exactly that, alongside the reward info:

Using the link, you will need to reserve your preferred time slot. We'll then send you the invite email.

  1. Completing the tech check

We need to verify that our testers have an ideal setup before taking part in an interview. This needs to be done prior to the session and will take place in the PlaytestCloud app, checking the following on your device:

On tapping "Start tech check", you will be taken through each component to check that they work well and will be suitable for the interview. Here's what the mic check looks like:

Once you've done each step, your device is good to go. There's just one final step!

  1. Confirming your availability prior to the session

There's always the chance that something can come up, so we'll check in with you the day before the scheduled session to check that you can still participate. You will use that opportunity to let us know whether you can or can't make it.

You'll receive the email 24 hours before the scheduled time, asking you to confirm that you are still able to make it. If you don't confirm by the time mentioned in the email, the slot will get automatically reassigned.

If you are scheduled for an interview within 24 hours of the time slot, you will not need to confirm

Non-attendance of an interview

You will not receive a reward if you do not show up for the interview, join after the scheduled time or leave the interview midway. This will also have a negative impact on your PlaytestCloud profile.

Availability advice

We advise that you do not select a time slot when you would normally work, meaning that you would have to either swap shifts or lose out on a shift. There is always the possibility that your interview may be cancelled.

Do not select a time when you will struggle to focus, for example in the early hours of the morning or at a time when you are the primary guardian of a child, pet, or other dependent.

Cancellations may occur

If the interviewer needs to cancel, we'll inform you via email. If the cancellation is within a few hours of the scheduled session then you will receive some of the reward amount. Please speak to the community team at help@playtestcloud.com if you have any questions.
