I travel a lot/am travelling right now. Which location should I put on my profile?

The location on your profile should be your current location, so the country that you will be playtesting from.

This is regardless of where you were born or where you have citizenship.

Why are testers selected based on their current location?

Current location is chosen over country of birth, as you are influenced by the marketing in your location. Your download and purchase decisions are dependent on what is available there.

By selecting testers based on where they are now, companies can better understand how their products perform in the real-time/world context.

What if I record in the incorrect location?

If you record in a location different to that in your profile, you will not be able to complete your playtest or be paid. This is because our system will recognize your upload data as being incorrect and not allow you to continue. Testers need to ensure that they are recording in the correct location so as to be eligible for payment. This is included in our Tester Code of Conduct.

Can I sign up if I travel a lot?

This can be an issue and so we do not recommend it.

Before we send out playtest invites, we send out screener surveys. These are sent out to people who are in certain locations, for example if a playtest is going to run for testers in the UK, it will only go to testers in the UK.

Here's an example of an issue that may occur: If you travel a lot, you may fill out a screener while in (for example) the UK for a UK playtest and then, by the time the playtest is running, you may be in the US.

By trying to take part in the incorrect place, you will not be able to complete the playtest or be paid. We aren't able to follow up with you and ensure that you are completing the correct ones - these are sent out based on the assumption that you are in the correct place.
