Tech check: Troubleshooting tips for interviews in the mobile app
- If you encounter an issue with the testing of the following sections before your next interview on Android or iOS, these troubleshooting tips can help you out:
Microphone
- Change your mic or headphones to some different ones.
- Check your internet connection. If you're using wifi, try moving closer to the router.
- Record in a quiet place. Try closing all the doors and windows in the room and turn off any fans or equipment that could make background noise.
- Make sure your microphone isn’t covered by your hands or clothes.
- Place your device closer to your mouth but try not to cough into it.
- If headphones are not recognized, try to disconnect them and only connect them again when the app prompts you to do it.
- Close other apps that could be using the microphone.
- Check for the microphone permissions in your phone's settings.
- Turn off any fans or equipment that could be making noise in the background.
Camera
- Check your internet connection. If you're using wifi, try moving closer to the router.
- Close other apps that could be using the camera
Screen-sharing
- Check your internet connection. If you're using wifi, try moving closer to the router.
- Close other programs that you're not using. This is so you can free some RAM.
- On iOS: check for "Screen recording" permissions in the settings.
- On Android: check for "Screen capture" (or similar) permissions in the settings.
Network
- Try to reset your router.
- Ask others in your network to limit their wifi use for the duration of the test.
- Check if you have connectivity problems in general and try to fix them (you can also try doing a speed test here).
If none of the troubleshooting tips worked, do you perhaps have a different mobile you could use to try to join?
Important: Make sure that you complete the tech check at least 12 hours before your interview time. Otherwise, your slot will be deactivated and given to a different tester.
