Playtest deadlines - Q&A
Unless we say otherwise, there is no deadline for the playtest and it will be closed when all available slots for players are filled.
If there is no deadline in the invitation email...
... we always suggest that testers start the playtest as soon as possible. Sometimes our tests fill up very quickly as they do operate on a first come, first served basis, and places in the playtest aren't held for anyone. As we are working to a deadline with the game developers, it is best for us to get started as soon as possible, just in case a problem arises!
What types of playtest have a deadline?
- If you are participating in a longitudinal playtest where you are playtesting over several days you will need to be aware of this cut-off time and that the playtest and surveys will “reset” at midnight.
- Similarly, multiplayer playtests will have a time window in which testers need to record.
- Interviews and interviews with gameplay will also be organised for a specific time. If you are unable to attend a scheduled session, you need to let us know using the link in your invitation email.
I've started a single-session playtest (one recording and one survey). When do I need to complete it by?
Every tester has a 12-hour time window in which they need to complete their follow-up survey. This time begins as soon as a game is opened to playtest it. The survey must be completed within this timeframe in order to be accepted.
Top tip: Surveys can be completed on a PC or laptop, even if they are a part of a mobile playtest!
The game developer wants feedback about what you have done, so we want those thoughts to still be fresh and no details to be forgotten. This is why we can’t accept surveys submitted any later than this.
My playtest is showing as filled!
We're sorry that all the spots in the playtest were taken before you were able to take part. Our algorithm is always evolving to give a fair amount of playtests to everyone, and we hope to provide you with a playtest very soon. Don't forget that the amount of playtests you get depends on your location.
My playtest invite arrived at a weird time - can you send them to me at a time when I know I'll be available?
Most playtests are sent automatically after being created. This means that playtests can be sent to many timezones. As we do not collect time zone data from our testers, we are unable to ensure that invites reach you at particular times. As long as a playtest hasn't been scheduled and confirmed (like in the case of interviews), then it's fine if you don't take part.
Like gaming on PC too? We'll be introducing PC playtests later this year! To get prepared for those, you can now add Windows PC's to your profile!
