Error messages: In the PlaytestCloud app
Error messages can occur in the PlaytestCloud app and we're here to help you get past them!
Note: If you have tried the below troubleshooting tips and continue to see the area, please let us know at help@playtestcloud.com
"This playtest is paused due to technical difficulties" - what does that mean?
Unfortunately, due to some issues that testers have experienced, the playtest has had to be paused.
Our engineers are looking into the issue, the developer has been contacted, and we'll send you an email when we have further info about the test continuing. We're unsure how long that will be, but we thank you for your patience in the meantime.
"Please enter a valid email address" issue
This message may show when you initially try to connect to the app. It occurs for the following reasons: If you haven't correctly written your email address or if you still haven't signed up with us.
Ensure that you are entering the email address that you signed up to PlaytestCloud with in the box. This is important because otherwise we will not be able to connect your profile to your app.
Also check that you have spelt everything correctly, included any periods that feature in your email address, and remove any spaces that are after your email address. You should then be able to continue!
Do allow some time for the login email to arrive, but if it takes any longer than an hour then get in touch with us at help@playtestcloud.com so we can look into the issue further.
"Screen recording not available when AirPlay, CarPlay, Restrictions, or screen mirroring is active" error message
If you're seeing this, we have a solution for you! We've had a look online and found the following suggestion, which had a large number of upvotes:
"Do you have Screen Time Restrictions ON for your iPhone? If YES then Turn Restriction OFF and see if that resolves it."
Here's a useful link that can run you through it, if you need some extra help:

"Invalid broadcast session" error
If you're seeing this error, it sounds like you may need to grant the PlaytestCloud app access to some of your device's hardware or other features. You could also check that there's enough space on your device as other testers have found that this helps.
Please check the following:
Review or change access to the microphone and other hardware features
1. Go to Settings > Privacy.
2. Tap a hardware feature, such as your Microphone.
The list shows the apps that requested access. You can turn access on or off for any app on the list.
Please also ensure that you have granted permissions in your settings for the PlaytestCloud app. Once these are done, you should be able to record successfully.
"App can't display over other apps" error
If you're having difficulties with granting this permission, we've found a YouTube video that should be able to help you with that:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q2MYDUloMFk
Bear in mind:
- "Special app access" may be found under a three-dotted menu on the App page, rather than being listed like in the video.
- "Display over other apps" may also be written as "Appear on top".
You could also try to close down other, unnecessary apps as this should help the process.
If you're using Android with operating system 15, please refer to this article.
"Feature not available because it will slow down the device" error
This error normally shows when a device:
- needs to be updated;
- does not have enough room;
- is too old; or
- when it has too many things running in the background.
Changing one of these may help you to get started with the playtest.
If that doesn't work, do you have another device that you could use? You can take a look at a list of devices you can playtest on - What Devices Can I Playtest On?
