Tips for interviews and interviews with gameplay

You've been invited to an interview with a developer or a games-user researcher - awesome! We've put together some points to help get you ready for the meeting:

Getting prepared:

  • You'll need the PlaytestCloud recorder app to join the playtest, so check that you have that downloaded on your device. The link in the invite email will help you with that.
  • Make sure that you have a good set of headphones and are in a quiet place with no distractions.
  • If the interview is related to a playtest that you have completed recently, you could make some notes beforehand about things you feel need to be mentioned.
  • Get set up in the app nice and early, in case any issues arise that you need to report.
    • If you're taking part in an interview with gameplay, install the game ahead of time. Just don't play it until the interviewer asks you too!
  • Join the interview 10 minutes before your allocated time slot so you're ready to go when the time comes. To join, use the link in either your invitation email or the reminder emails.

During the test:

  • We will need both audio and video for the interview, so please turn your camera on. Please also bear in mind that the interview will be recorded.
  • Activate the do not disturb function.
  • We want you to be honest and informative when answering the questions. This is crucial: Game developers and researchers need your feedback to make sure they’re creating the best games possible!
  • Do feel free to refuse any questions that require you to disclose personal information or anything else you are not comfortable sharing.
  • For interviews with gameplay, it's also a good idea to turn down the in-game music so that you can hear the interviewer ask you any questions.

Stay safe! Please do not take part in any interview or live playtest while driving.

Can't make your interview?

If you're not able to attend an interview or live playtest, please let us know as soon as possible using the "Can't make it?" link in your invite email. If you do not let us know that you can't attend, this will negatively affect your playtesting profile

Cancellations for interviews

These can occur - we'll inform you via email. If the cancellation is within a few hours of the scheduled session then you will receive some of the reward amount. Please speak to the community team at help@playtestcloud.com if you have any questions.

Thanks for taking the time to help make gaming the best it can be!
