What is a concept test?
Generally concept tests are conducted when ideas for a game are beginning to take form.
This means that tests can vary. Things you might be asked your opinion on are aspects of story, dialogue, characters or artwork.
There may be times when you are testing a prototype of a game. As the game would be a very early sample of the final product, you won't be able to access all parts of it.
With concept tests, the options are endless, so they can be a lot of fun to take part in! What's important is that you respond to the test honestly.
How to complete a concept test:
- It may sound obvious, but remember to read the instructions that come with the playtest. They explain how you are meant to interact with the concept and will let you know what can't yet be done.
- There will normally be tasks, which will guide you through what to do. Make sure you follow those as they will make sure that you test the correct part of the concept.
- If you are trialling a prototype of a game, not everything will be accessible. Indicators on the screen or in the tasks will help you out.
Like gaming on PC too? We'll be introducing PC playtests later this year! To get prepared for those, you can now add Windows PC's to your profile!
